EngineAI Raises $200M Series B at $1.4B Valuation — Luxshare Precision and Henan Investment Back the T800 Humanoid Robot Maker

The Chinese humanoid robot company whose viral T800 combat videos shocked the internet achieves unicorn status: Shenzhen-based EngineAI (ENGINEAI Robotics Technology) closes a $200 million Series B led by Henan Investment Group and Apple iPhone assembler Luxshare Precision — the strategic manufacturing partner that could solve the delivery bottleneck — as the company targets 4,000-5,000 humanoid robot units delivered in 2026 and plans to reach 30,000-50,000 units annually by 2027.

DEAL OVERVIEW

EngineAI closed its $200 million Series B on April 9-10, 2026, co-led by Huirong Fund (Henan Investment Group) and Luxshare Precision. The round also included Zhongchuang Zhiling, Cornerstone Capital, and Huangpujiang Capital, alongside reinvesting existing shareholders JD.com (China's major e-commerce and logistics company) and CATL Capital (strategic investment arm of battery giant CATL). The post-money valuation exceeds ¥10 billion ($1.4 billion), making EngineAI a unicorn. Total cumulative funding has now surpassed $1 billion across nine rounds.

The most strategically significant element of the Series B is the entry of Luxshare Precision as a co-lead investor and manufacturing partner. Luxshare — best known as the primary assembler of Apple AirPods and a key iPhone assembly partner — brings precisely the manufacturing discipline, precision assembly expertise, component sourcing network, and quality control systems required to scale humanoid robot production from prototype volumes to industrial mass production. This is widely seen as a potential solution to the "delivery battle" that is plaguing the Chinese humanoid robotics sector in 2026: companies like AgiBot and Unitree are all racing to translate VC funding into actual robot deliveries.

"Luxshare's entry as an investor and strategic partner is the most important development for EngineAI beyond the capital itself. Bridging the gap between impressive demos and reliable high-yield mass production is the defining challenge of the humanoid robotics sector in 2026 — and Luxshare has solved exactly this problem for Apple for over a decade."

CHINA'S HUMANOID ROBOT RACE IN 2026

China's humanoid robotics sector is undergoing a historic acceleration: TrendForce projects China's humanoid robot output will surge 94% in 2026. Key milestones: AgiBot rolled out its 10,000th humanoid on March 28, 2026; Unitree has filed for a $580 million IPO targeting $7 billion; Spirit AI, DEEP Robotics, and Galaxea AI have all recently closed $100M+ rounds. The Chinese government has made humanoid robotics a national industrial priority in its 2025-2030 industrial planning documents, with state capital actively co-investing alongside venture capital.

The commercial applications driving this race are real: Foxconn is deploying humanoids in electronics assembly; JD.com is testing them in warehouse logistics; Shenzhen shopping malls are deploying them as customer service staff; and industrial manufacturers across Guangdong province are piloting them for quality inspection and material handling. At a target price of $25,000-$28,000, humanoid robots become cost-competitive with annual human labor costs in many Chinese manufacturing contexts.
